Three Ships Crewed by Indians Attacked by US Navy off the Coast of Oman

Three ships crewed by Indian nationals were targeted in attacks by the US Navy off the coast of Oman in recent days, Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Thursday. “The attacks were carried out by the US Navy in the region, as reflected in various reports and as we have explained in a previous statement. The three vessels involved in the incident were foreign-flagged,” Jaiswal said during a press conference on the Middle East situation. He said India had summoned the US chargé d’affaires to convey deep concern and lodge a strong protest over the incident. Mukesh Mangal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said all crew members of the tanker MT Jalveer were safely evacuated after the vessel was attacked on Thursday. He stressed that India prioritises the safety and security of its seafarers.
