Three RI detained on drug charges in KL
MALAYSIA: Malaysian customs officers have detained three Indonesian men caught trying to smuggle out illegal methamphetamines in their underwear, police said on Friday.
The three men, aged between 28 and 38, were detained last week as they were boarding a ferry bound for Indonesia, from a pier in the northern Penang state, said state Director of Customs, Zainol Abidin.
Each of them were carrying about 400 grams of the drug, worth 50,000 ringgit (US$13,158), in their underwear, he told reporters.
Zainol said the three men, who had valid travel documents and were frequent visitors to the state, were believed to be involved in drug trafficking while in the country.
The suspects have been remand for investigation, and will be charged with drug trafficking.
