A shooting and knife attack took place in the Kampung Ambon area of Cengkareng, West Jakarta. A police team went to inspect the scene.

“That’s correct. Officers on the ground are handling it, and they are already at the scene,” Budi Hermanto, head of public relations at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, told reporters on Wednesday (14 October 2026).

Separately, West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Nasriadi said the incident happened at 4pm local time on Jalan Tanggul Timur, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

“Tanggul Timur is in Cengkareng, opposite Kampung Ambon, or the Permata complex, where yesterday we carried out a raid, destroyed evidence and demolished stalls,” Nasriadi explained.

Nasriadi said there were three victims, all of whom had been taken to hospital.

“The three victims have been taken directly to hospital for treatment. They are in a stable condition, conscious and able to recount what happened,” he said.

He said the incident began while the three victims were relaxing by the river. A vehicle suddenly arrived and several people got out.

“Several people got out and immediately attacked them with sharp weapons and firearms. There were three victims,” he said.

Two of the victims suffered slash wounds, while one was shot in the ear.

“Two suffered sharp-weapon injuries to their arms and backs, and one was shot in the ear, or sustained an ear injury from a firearm,” he added.

In response, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police deployed 20 Patra personnel to the scene. The Patra team, led by First Inspector Rizaldi, arrived alongside West Jakarta Police and Cengkareng Police and secured the area.

Jakarta Metropolitan Police Mobile Brigade Commander Henik Maryanto stressed the importance of a swift and co-ordinated response to situations that could threaten public security.

“Any information about a potential threat to public order must be addressed swiftly and in a co-ordinated manner. We prioritise public safety and support efforts to keep the situation safe and under control,” Henik said.
