Jakarta — The Kemayoran Police Chief, Kompol Agung Ardiansyah, stated that three residents sustained injuries from a fire in Kemayoran Gempol, an area behind Pasar Jiung, Kebon Kosong Village, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta, on the evening of Monday, 1 June 2026.

Two of the victims were treated at RS Hermina whilst one other victim received care at RSCM. Material losses have yet to be estimated.

According to witness testimony from a resident identified as D (57), the fire originated from a neighbouring house. The witness reported that flames suddenly emerged from two houses located behind his residence.

Upon seeing the fire, several residents immediately attempted to extinguish it using portable fire extinguishers (APAR). However, the flames had grown too large and spread rapidly to surrounding buildings.

The witness estimated that approximately 250 semi-permanent structures housing around 300 families were affected by the fire.

The Central Jakarta Fire Prevention and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) deployed 33 fire-fighting units and more than 100 personnel to handle the incident.

Jakarta Fire Chief Bayu Meghantara reported that the initial fire alert was received by officers at 20:55 WIB. The flames engulfing the residential area were successfully contained at 23:30 WIB, approximately three hours after the initial report was received by emergency personnel.

According to the Central Jakarta Gulkarmat report, the first alert was received at 20:55 WIB, units arrived at 21:03 WIB, and the fire was brought under control at 23:30 WIB. The structures affected were semi-permanent residential buildings.
