PT Hutama Karya (Persero) will soon operationalise three ramps at the Palembang Junction, namely Ramp 5 (Betung–Indralaya), Ramp 6 (Betung–Palembang), and Ramp 8 (Palembang–Kayu Agung), to strengthen connectivity between toll road sections in South Sumatra. Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, stated that the presence of the Palembang Junction will facilitate movement for road users between toll sections without needing to exit onto national roads. “We will soon operationalise the Palembang Junction in the near future as part of efforts to improve connectivity and services for road users,” Hamdani remarked on Wednesday (1/4/2026). The junction is expected to support smoother mobility for the public and logistics distribution, particularly in South Sumatra. Previously, several ramps have already been operational, including Ramp 1 (Betung–Kayu Agung), Ramp 2 (Kayu Agung–Indralaya), Ramp 3 (Indralaya–Kayu Agung), and Ramp 4B (Kayu Agung–Kramasan). Meanwhile, Ramp 4A (Indralaya–Betung) and Ramp 7 (Betung–Kramasan and Kramasan–Kayu Agung) are planned to open alongside the operationalisation of the Palembang–Betung Toll Road. This phased operationalisation of the Palembang Junction is expected to further optimise connectivity between toll sections in South Sumatra, while supporting smoother traffic flow and providing a more comfortable travel experience for road users. Before operationalisation, the Palembang Junction underwent Testing for Functional and Operational Readiness (ULFO) to ensure all aspects of safety, security, and operations are met. This process was conducted together with relevant stakeholders. To support smooth operations, Hutama Karya will also conduct intensive socialisation through various communication channels, both mainstream media and digital. The information conveyed includes ramp access, traffic movement patterns, and education for road users. “We will conduct massive socialisation through various communication channels so that the public can understand the access, functions, and benefits of the Palembang Junction operations well,” Hamdani concluded.
