Three programmes dominate social media discussions during Prabowo’s second year in office
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Deep Intelligence Research (DIR) has recorded the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, Merah Putih Village/Urban Ward Cooperatives (Kopdes) and Danantara as the three main issues dominating public discussion on social media during the second year of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration.
DIR Research and Communications Director Neni Nur Hayati said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday that its monitoring of digital discussions from October 2025 to October 2026 recorded around 12.28 million conversations, with total engagement of 11.8 billion and an audience reach of 35.6 billion.
MBG was the programme with the highest engagement, at 66.6 million. Kopdes recorded around 10.2 million engagements, while Danantara received about 2.9 million.
DIR found that, during the second year, 1,498,179 articles were published across 9,896 media outlets, alongside 12,272,301 social media posts on six platforms: Facebook (Meta), YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X and Threads.
News coverage was predominantly positive, with 1,214,436 articles, or 81.1 per cent, carrying a positive tone. A total of 253,935 articles, or 16.9 per cent, were negative, while the remaining 29,808, or 2 per cent, were neutral.
The five biggest subjects in news coverage, in order, were MBG, Danantara, the Merah Putih cooperatives, Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools) and the conferral of national hero status.
President Prabowo was the person most frequently quoted by the media, with 625,962 mentions, followed by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi with 91,684 and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia with 87,777.
Neni said the public’s strong interest in the programmes showed how government policies could become the focus of digital discussion, both through official government communications and spontaneous public responses.
“People are very enthusiastic about discussing the Prabowo administration’s programmes and performance. This is reflected in the very large figures for both mainstream media coverage and public discussion on social media during the year we studied,” she said.
