Three Police Officers in Anambas Detained, Suspected of Drug Offences

Three officers from the Anambas Islands Police, under the Riau Islands Regional Police, were detained on Wednesday (5/8) for allegedly using methamphetamine. The officers are Bripka RS, Briptu RF, and Brigadir Ro. Bripka RS served as KBO of the Community Guidance Unit at the Anambas Islands Police, Briptu RF was a member of the Jemaja Police Station, and Brigadir Ro was assigned as a non-commissioned officer at the Integrated Police Service Centre of the Anambas Islands Police. Anambas Islands Police Chief AKBP I Gusti Ngurah Agung Budianaloka confirmed the three officers had been detained and would be processed according to the law. He stated the three police officers would also face an ethics tribunal as members of the Indonesian National Police and are threatened with dishonourable discharge. “Yes, it is true, the three officers have been detained and are being processed legally; they will face an ethics tribunal later,” Gusti Ngurah said when confirmed on Wednesday evening. During a urine test conducted by officers on Tuesday (4/8), the results were positive for methamphetamine. Additionally, during searches of their respective residences, the Narcotics Unit found methamphetamine smoking devices but no other evidence. The Narcotics Unit of the Anambas Islands Police is still investigating the origin of the drugs obtained by the three officers. “We are also still investigating where the items came from and how the perpetrators obtained them; we will uncover this thoroughly,” said Gusti Ngurah. He further stated that the Indonesian National Police institution—in this case, the Anambas Islands Police—is taking firm action against members who use narcotics or act as dealers or traffickers. “This is our stance; we will take firm, impartial action,” he said.
