Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed three main points he reported to President Prabowo Subianto during a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (22/6/2026). He detailed that the first point discussed concerned the evaluation of the national downstreaming programme, which is currently ongoing in various strategic sectors. “Because several are already underway, we also reported to the President that our downstreaming programme for the car battery ecosystem, a collaboration between CATL and Antam, has been completed and, God willing, will be inaugurated at the end of July. It is finished,” Bahlil stated at the Palace. The second point was regarding the condition of national energy resilience. Bahlil said the government continues to strive to strengthen energy reserves to maintain domestic supply security. “Secondly, we also held a meeting with the President to discuss our energy. And our energy resilience will be able to average above a minimum of 20 days,” he said. The third point concerned the stability of electricity services provided by PT PLN (Persero) to the public. During the meeting, the government and PLN evaluated several issues that could potentially affect the reliability of electricity supply. “And earlier, together with PLN’s President Director, we dissected three problems. One of them concerns the gas-fired power plant (PLTG) at the start,” he said. Bahlil explained that PLN’s coal consumption actually reaches around 154 million tonnes per year. Meanwhile, the domestic market obligation (DMO) for coal supply assigned by the Ministry of ESDM to mining companies reaches around 180 million to 190 million tonnes per year. The volume of coal currently contracted by PLN stands at around 134 million tonnes. “Actually, the contract between PLN and entrepreneurs is 134 million for one year. Now it is only the 6th month. That should be no issue. It turns out what PLN is complaining about or requesting is medium-calorie coal for blending. Well, we have confirmed that there is no longer a problem and the government has helped PLN to operate. But beyond that, we are asking PLN to immediately carry out maintenance so that it can truly provide certainty of service to the public,” he clarified.
