Three PGE Megaprojects Enter Bappenas Green Book, Unlocking International Financing

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) has recorded a significant achievement after three of its geothermal development projects were included in the 2026 Green Book compiled by the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas). PGE Director of Exploration and Development Edwil Suzandi stated that the inclusion of these projects serves as recognition of the quality of their planning and opens up greater opportunities to secure international financing support. “The Green Book is very significant for us as geothermal practitioners and business players. It is a form of recognition from global financiers, including JICA Japan, the World Bank, and the ADB, for the projects we manage,” Edwil said. He explained that the projects’ entry into the Green Book demonstrates that the proposals submitted by PGE meet the standards required by international financial institutions. This means the projects not only comply with domestic standards but also satisfy international benchmarks, covering aspects from planning and preparation to development certainty. The three projects are the Lumut Balai Unit 3 Geothermal Power Plant (55 MW), Lumut Balai Unit 4 (55 MW), and Lahendong Unit 7-8 (50 MW). With their inclusion in the Green Book, the company is optimistic about maintaining competitive cost of debt and improving the long-term economics of the projects. The Green Book 2026 is officially titled the List of Priority Foreign Loan Plans for 2026.
