Three People Die as Landslide Buries Bantargebang Garbage Mountain
BEKASI, KOMPAS.com - Three people died after being buried by a waste landslide in Zone 4 of Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST Bantargebang), Bekasi City, on Sunday (8 March 2026) afternoon.
Head of Jakarta Search and Rescue Office Desiana Kartika Bahari said the landslide occurred around 15:29 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
A mound of waste buried several areas around the location, including a stall and waste-collection trucks.
The three victims consisted of two stall owners and one truck driver.
The victims’ identities are Enda Widayanti (25) and Sumine (60), owners of stalls near the incident site.
The remaining victim, Dedi Sutrisno, is a truck driver from Karawang.
“Victims died, two were taken back to Banten and one to Karawang,” he said.
At the time of the incident, there were several stalls and waste-collection trucks around the landslide area.
“Data collection is ongoing, and there are still many waste-collection trucks buried and stalls at the site,” he explained.
