Three pairs to contest governorship

JAYAPURA, Papua: The West Irian Jaya poll organizer announced on
Wednesday that three pairs of governor and vice governor
candidates were eligible to contest the West Irian Jaya
gubernatorial election on July 28.

The three pairs are Abraham Atururi and Rahimin Katjong
nominated by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P),
Yorris Raweyai and Abdul Killian nominated by Golkar Party and
Decky Asmuruf and Ali Kastella nominated by the United
Development Party (PPP) and the National Mandate Party (PAN).

Regina Sauyai, chairwoman of the West Irian Jaya KPU, said the
election campaign would start on July 11 and run through July 24.
