Three OPD Leadership Positions in Karangasem Regency Remain Vacant Following Recent Transfers

Three leadership positions in the organizational units (OPD) of the Karangasem Regency Government (Pemkab) remain vacant or without permanent officials. This is despite the fact that Pemkab Karangasem conducted transfers some time ago.

The three vacant OPD leadership positions are the head of the Karangasem Environmental Agency (DLH), the head of the Karangasem Community and Village Empowerment Agency (PMD), and the head of the Karangasem Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD). As a result, the leadership in each of these OPDs is still held by acting officials (plt).

The head of the Human Resources and Civil Service Development Agency (BKPSDM) of Karangasem, Cokorda Alit Surya Prabawa, confirmed that there are still three vacant OPD leadership positions, temporarily filled by acting officials. The filling will be carried out in the near future through an open selection process.

“Currently, we are in the process of forming a selection committee (pansel) related to the planned open selection to fill the vacant OPD leadership positions,” said Prabawa on Monday (6/4/2026).

Prabawa stated that the acting positions in the OPDs are still entrusted to the previous leaders even though they have taken up other positions. They are I Made Agus Budiyasa as Acting Head of the PMD Agency and Ida Bagus Ketut Arimbawa as Acting Head of the BPBD in Karangasem. Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the Environmental Agency is filled by Wedasmara.

In addition to the three OPD leadership positions, several positions below them are also still vacant. On average, this is because the officials have reached retirement age and are likely to be filled in the near future.

“There are around positions below the OPD leadership that are currently still vacant,” said Prabawa.

Prabawa emphasised that the wheels of government in Karangasem are still running as usual even though several OPDs do not yet have permanent leaders. According to him, everything can be handled by the acting officials.
