Three nabbed over rape, molestation of schoolgirls

JAKARTA (JP): Ciputat Police have arrested three men for allegedly raping a schoolgirl and molesting another early on Sunday morning in an abandoned building on Jl. Dewi Sartika, Ciputat, Tangerang.

Ciputat Police chief Capt. Helvi Assegaf identified the alleged rapists as high school graduates John Risal bin Ratudin, 21, Iwan Halim bin Hasannani, 20, and Subardi bin Manan, 21. They all live in Kedaung village, Pamulang.

The rape victim was identified as LP, 16, from Pamulang Permai. SBS, 18, who lives in Pamulang Barat village, was identified as the molestation victim.

"Police found the girls naked and crying bitterly at the abandoned and unfinished Pasar Ciputat housing and shopping building complex," Helvi told reporters at the station.

"After watching a pornographic movie with the girls at a local cinema hall, the rapists insisted that they would find an angkot (public minivan) for them. The girls refused, but were instead taken to the three-story Pasar Ciputat complex, where one was repeatedly raped, and another molested."

When residents close to the complex heard female screams, they immediately searched the building and found a naked girl crying uncontrollably and wrapped only in a gunnysack cloth. She told them that she had been raped, and that another girl was about to be raped on the third floor.

While one of the residents gave the girl a coat, the others alerted the Ciputat Police, who caught John on the scene. Iwan and Subardi managed to escape.

Police found a black wallet in the building. The girls' clothing was nowhere in or around the building.

They brought LP with them to look for Iwan and Subardi at Ciputat market. They found Iwan there at about 6:30 a.m. He tried to run away and was shot in the thigh, while Subardi was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. in the market on the same day.

Separately, in her rundown house, LP told The Jakarta Post she had gone to the house of her school friend, SBS, on Saturday night to pick up a watch.

"SBS had borrowed my watch long time ago. She said she couldn't come over to my place to return the watch, and that I had to pick it up from her place," she said in a firm voice.

She added that SBS later convinced her to stay over at her house on Saturday night, where SBS would introduce her boyfriend to her.

"Her boyfriend didn't show up at the cinema. We were all alone in this strange place when suddenly three guys showed up," LP said.

"They introduced themselves and started to talk to SBS in a friendly manner. They told us a good movie was going to be shown.

"Before we could say yes, they had bought the tickets to a movie and pulled us into the cinema," LP said.

Titled Permainan Binal (Wild Games), the 10 p.m. movie turned out to be pornographic.

"So much graphic sex was shown that I held a handkerchief to my eyes throughout the movie. I wanted to get out, but Iwan kept holding on to my arm."

They left the cinema, with LP walking in front followed by Iwan, and SBS walked behind with Subardi.

"When I had walked some distance, I turned round to find SBS, Subardi and John had gone. I panicked ... Iwan calmed me down and took me to an abandoned building, some 500 meters from the cinema," LP said.

Iwan led her to the third floor, where it was pitch dark.

Threatening to throw her from the window, Iwan touched her and made her undress. She then heard voices from below.

"From the muffled screams, somehow I had this feeling that they belonged to SBS. I knew we were done for," she said.

"Subardi was the first to hold one hand over my mouth, and rape me. Jon followed and then Iwan." (ylt)
