Three nabbed for kidnapping girl

JAKARTA (JP): South Jakarta police have arrested three suspects charged for kidnapping and robbing a 13-year-old girl from her English college on Jl. Panglima Polim.

Chief of South Jakarta Police, Sr. Supt. Edward Aritonang said on Monday that the police apprehended Mahendrata Gautama, alias Alldo, Wicky Asmoro Heandaru Bowo, alias Wiki, and student Muhamad Mirza, alias Edi.

All of them are aged between 23 and 24 and the first two suspects are jobless.

Officer Edward said the police confiscated a green Kijang with a fake license plate, a Nokia cell phone, a pair of diamond earrings, three packages of putaw (low grade heroin) and a dagger.

Aritonang said they approached the victim, identified as Tasya who is a student at Tarakanita I Junior High School, when she had just finished her English class on Aug. 25.

Wiki told the girl that he was a detective from the City Police and that he was going to nab a drug distributor at the college. He then asked her to help him by coming to his car.

Meanwhile, the two other suspects, Alldo and Edi, were already in the car. The three men robbed Tasya with the dagger shortly after she got into the car.

After searching Tasya's bag, the men found a pair of diamond earrings, an ATM card, S$200 in cash and a cell phone.

They later used the phone to blackmail the girl's parents for Rp 5 million.

Aritonang said his team managed to arrest the suspects after tracing the number of the victim's cell phone.

After a long search, the police located a rented house on Jl. Poncol Jaya in Kuningan, South Jakarta, and sent a team to the address where they arrested Wiki and Warso.

The police later apprehended Edi at his residence on Jl. Tulodong Atas in Senayan, South Jakarta, and confiscated a green Kijang. (jaw/07)
