Three mosques in Aceh successfully renovated with aid from Tangerang community
Tangerang (ANTARA) - Three of the 12 mosques in Aceh that were damaged by flooding some time ago have been successfully renovated with assistance from the Tangerang City community, Banten.
Tangerang Mayor Sachrudin stated that the renovation aid represents a tangible expression of the Tangerang City community’s concern for their brothers and sisters in Aceh affected by the disaster.
“Mosques are not just places of worship, but also centres of community life. Therefore, when mosques are rebuilt and usable again, the community’s spirit to rise is also strengthened. May this assistance strengthen brotherhood and bring benefits to the people of Aceh,” said Sachrudin in his statement in Tangerang on Friday.
Previously, on Wednesday (6/5), the Tangerang City Aceh-Sumatra Care Team inaugurated three mosques that had been completed for renovation post-flood disaster in Aceh. The three places of worship are Masjid Babulfalah and Masjid At-Taqwa in Mananggini Village, Aceh Tamiang Regency, as well as Masjid Madinah Japakeh in Pidie Jaya Regency.
The inauguration is part of a programme to renovate 12 flood-affected mosques, realised through collaboration between the Tangerang City community, Tangerang City Government, Tangerang City DPRD, MUI, BAZNAS, PPPA Daarul Qur’an, and Tangerang City Community Networks.
Head of the Aceh-Sumatra Care Team, Ika Lestari, said that renovating the mosques is not just about the buildings but also about restoring the community’s spirit to recover post-disaster.
Deputy Chairman of the Tangerang City DPRD, Turidi Susanto, added that the aid symbolises the love and solidarity of the Tangerang City community for Aceh.
“This assistance may not be much compared to the needs of the community, but this is a form of love and concern from the Tangerang City community for our brothers and sisters in Aceh,” he said.
Although only officially inaugurated in May 2026, the renovation of the three mosques was actually completed before the previous Ramadan.
The presence of the Care Team in Aceh is not merely about inaugurating rebuilt structures, but also about delivering a strong message of solidarity, concern, and collective spirit to rise post-disaster.
Datuk Penghulu of Mananggini Village, Moh. Jali, expressed his emotion over the completion of the mosque renovation in his area. He recalled the pitiful condition of the mosque after being hit by the flood.
According to him, the renovation aid brings new hope for the community to worship comfortably and safely again.
“At the time of the flood, the mosque’s condition was very severe. Even entering it felt difficult because the damage was so extensive. Mud piled up in the mosque to about one metre, and we didn’t know where to start the renovation,” he revealed.
