Three Mortgaged Houses Collapse in West Bandung Due to Unstable Ground and Poor Construction
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WEST BANDUNG – Three houses in the Permata Padalarang housing complex, RT 03/25, Jayamekar Village, Padalarang District, West Bandung Regency (KBB), West Java, collapsed. There were no casualties in the incident, which occurred on Sunday (22 February 2026), as all the residents managed to escape. “Yes, it’s true that three houses collapsed in RT 03 RW 25, specifically in Block F of the Permata Padalarang complex. The incident occurred after heavy rain,” said the Head of Jayamekar Village, Siti Khoiriyah, when contacted on Monday (23 February 2026). The unstable soil conditions on the sloping land are suspected to have weakened the foundation’s load-bearing capacity, causing the three adjacent houses to collapse. This condition was exacerbated by the poor construction of the collapsed houses. “The collapse of the three houses is suspected to have been caused by poor building construction, triggered by high rainfall shortly before the incident,” said Siti.
