Three-Month Food Aid Distribution Commences
Perum Bulog has commenced the distribution of food aid in the form of rice for the July-September 2026 period across several regions. The programme is designed to maintain public purchasing power and ensure the food needs of beneficiary families are met.
In Yogyakarta City, distribution began on Tuesday, 11 August. Each Food Aid Recipient (PBP) received 30 kilograms of rice at once, covering the three-month allocation of 10 kilograms per month. Perum Bulog Regional Head for Yogyakarta, Dedi Aprilyadi, stated that the distribution would continue until 30 September 2026 as part of the government’s social safety net. He noted that the current scheme differs from the February-March 2026 period, when recipients received 10 kilograms of rice and two litres of Minyakita cooking oil per allocation. The determination of recipients is based on the Integrated National Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs. The number of beneficiaries in the Special Region of Yogyakarta has increased from 491,756 PBP in the previous period to 522,956 PBP. Dedi requested that the public report any rice of substandard quality for immediate exchange.
In Indramayu Regency, West Java, the local government is collaborating with Perum Bulog to distribute aid to approximately 317,133 PBP, an increase of around 3,004 recipients from the previous allocation. Head of the Indramayu Food Security and Agriculture Office, Sugeng Heryanto, stated that the aid is crucial as most of the region enters the lean season and the start of the planting season. He confirmed that the rice distributed is medium-grade, sourced entirely from local Indramayu farmers, with no imported rice used. Separately, Bulog Indramayu is also strengthening the supply of commercial premium rice to retail markets, offering brands like Beras Punokawan and Beras Befood at Rp14,900 per kilogram.
Meanwhile, rice stocks at the Bulog Meger Warehouse in Klaten, Central Java, were recorded at 16,300 tonnes as of 11 August 2026. Warehouse Head Sulistyanto assured that stocks remain safe to meet needs until the end of the year, despite the distribution of aid to 179,842 beneficiary families in Klaten. In Bangka Belitung, Perum Bulog confirmed that rice stocks are secure amid the dry season, with approximately 4,000 tonnes of medium and premium rice available, deemed sufficient for the next three months.
