Three monitors ready for polls

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: The election campaign is three days
away but only three poll monitoring bodies have registered with
the Sulawesi General Elections Commission (KPUD), a poll official
said on Monday.

They are Community Care for Elections, the Poll Monitoring
Committee for Poor People and the Archipelago Muslim Student
Guard.

Ridwan Husein, a member of the KPUD, expressed concern that
only three poll monitoring bodies had registered with the KPUD.

He worried that with so few poll monitoring bodies, election
violation could go unchecked.

The registration for poll monitoring bodies opened on Feb. 24
and will close on March 10. -- JP
