Jakarta (ANTARA) — South Jakarta’s Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Sub-Department said three Merah Putih Cooperative outlets in the area had been built and were operating to standard.

Head of the South Jakarta PPKUKM Sub-Department Djaharuddin said the outlets were located in Cipedak, Bintaro and Petukangan Utara.

“To support smooth operations and maintain stock availability, we are coordinating with PT Agrinas and other state-owned enterprises on the distribution of the cooperatives’ needs,” Djaharuddin said in Jakarta on Friday.

He said the department was working with PT Agrinas and other state-owned enterprises to support operations and ensure the cooperatives had sufficient stocks of goods.

Alongside ensuring the availability of goods, involving micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) from around the outlets is another measure to strengthen the local economy.

The Merah Putih Cooperatives are therefore expected not only to meet residents’ needs, but also to create opportunities for local MSME products to be sold through the outlets.

Djaharuddin said he hoped the cooperatives would continue to grow and reach every urban village in South Jakarta as part of efforts to deliver the President’s priority programme.

“As their supervisor, we hope these cooperatives can continue to develop and operate in every urban village to support the President’s priority programme. We also hope stock allocations will give particular consideration to products from local MSMEs,” he said.

Going forward, the development of cooperative outlets is expected to extend their service reach while giving local MSME products greater scope to contribute to the supply chain for goods needed by the community.
