Three men rearrested
over Poso beheadings
Authorities have rearrested three men on suspicion of involvement
in the beheading of teenage Christian girls in the religiously-
divided district of Poso, a report said on Tuesday. The three men
and two others had been suspected of involvement in the killings
but were released on Saturday after police cited a lack of
evidence. But the head of the military command overseeing Central
Sulawesi province, Maj. Gen. Arief Budi Sampurno, was quoted by
Antara as saying the rearrest of the three followed results of
DNA tests on objects found in the suspects' possession. "Based on
these new findings, that is that the DNA of the victims were
found on knives used by the three suspects to conduct the alleged
murder, the three were rearrested on Monday," Sampurno said.
He did not identify the three. --AFP
