Three Men in TTU Tied and Dragged Along Road in Viral Incident, Sustaining Injuries

Three men were tied with rope and dragged along a public road by villagers, sustaining injuries. The social media-viral assault occurred in Fafinesu B Village, Insana Fafinesu Subdistrict, Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Multiple circulating videos showed the men initially tied and laid on the ground, with villagers searching their belongings. Villagers shouted accusations of theft, with one man threatening to set them on fire. ‘Ete mait bensin he totu’ (‘get the petrol to burn them’), ‘Ete mait tas na nok sa es na’ (‘get the bag to see what’s inside’), a man said in Dawan language in the viral video, as reported by detikBali on Tuesday (26/5/2026).

The tied men were then dragged along the road, sustaining injuries to the back of the head, thighs, buttocks, and entire body, with villagers shouting during the dragging. ‘Pull, pull. They’re thieves, stealing from your house again,’ a man recording the video shouted while insulting the victims.

Senior Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, NTT Police Public Relations Chief, confirmed the viral video, stating the incident occurred on Sunday (24/5) evening. The victims, identified as PS, RT, and AT, were assaulted by villagers.

Henry said TTU Police personnel immediately responded to the disturbance, which led to the assault on the victims. He confirmed the situation was under control and public safety maintained.

‘The victims were evacuated by TTU Police and Insana Utara Police Station personnel to Kefamenanu Regional Hospital for medical treatment after sustaining serious facial and head injuries,’ Henry said.

Timeline

Henry explained the incident began when villagers in Fafinesu B conducted a night patrol around 7:30 PM WITA due to frequent thefts at traditional houses causing community concern.

During the patrol, villagers suspected PS, RT, and AT, who were passing by on two motorcycles. When stopped, they claimed they were gathering honey in the village and had permission from a local resident.

However, after verification, the resident denied giving permission. This triggered the enraged crowd.

‘This led to the assault on the three victims,’ Henry said.

Shortly after, TTU Police personnel were deployed to the scene. Around 10:15 PM WITA, police evacuated the men to Kefamenanu Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

‘TTU Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Eliana Papote visited the victims at the hospital on Monday (25/5/2026) to ensure they received maximum medical care,’ Henry said.

Henry stressed the police are still investigating the case, urging the public to remain calm and not be influenced by unverified information.

‘TTU Police are handling the entire incident professionally and transparently,’ Henry added.
