Three Men Apprehended Attempting to Burgle Vacant House in South Jakarta
Three men were arrested while attempting to burgle a house that had been empty for ten years in Rawa Barat, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. The trio were spotted by a neighbourhood security guard.
The incident occurred in RW 07, Rawa Barat, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Thursday (16/7) at 1.30 am Western Indonesia Time. The three were seen acting suspiciously in front of the long-abandoned house.
"Last night at around 1.30 am, there were three suspicious people in front of the house, which has been uninhabited for a long time," said Kebayoran Baru Police Chief AKBP Nugraha Kusuma on Friday (17/7/2026), as reported by Antara.
Nugraha explained that a security guard on patrol became suspicious of their movements as they entered the long-vacant property. Two of the perpetrators had already entered the yard but were stopped by the guard before the incident was reported to the police.
"They had just entered; they had not yet taken anything," he stated.
Following their detention, police are continuing to investigate whether the three had planned the burglary and how many times they may have previously committed similar acts.
"We are also trying to question other parties, including the perpetrators, about whether they have done this elsewhere," he added.
The three men were identified by their initials as D, MS, and FS, and are known to work as street clowns.
