Three Mataram Men Arrested for Domino Gambling in Roadside Berugak
Three residents of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), were nabbed while playing domino gambling at a berugak in an empty plot beside the road. They were detained at the Mataram Police Sector (Polsek Mataram).
The three arrestees are GBK (42) from Cakra Selatan, R (35) from Seganteng, and SI (27) from Pagesangan Timur, Mataram. They were raided on Thursday (5 March 2026) around 10:00 WITA.
Police Chief of Mataram, AKP Mulyadi, said the raid began from public reports suspecting gambling activity at a berugak on an empty plot by Bung Karno Road, Bukit Ngandang, Pagutan Timur Sub-district, Mataram.
“We moved to investigate the location. On arrival at the scene, officers found a group of men engrossed in playing domino gambling,” Mulyadi said, Thursday (5/3/2026).
The officers seized a number of exhibits from the suspects. The exhibits consisted of a domino set, a sheet of plastic mat, and tens of thousands of rupiah in cash believed to be betting money.
The three suspects along with the exhibits have been secured at Polsek Mataram for further investigation. The suspects face potential charges under Article 427 of the Indonesian Penal Code concerning gambling.
Mulyadi urged the public to continue to proactively report suspicious activities or criminal acts in their respective areas to maintain the security of Mataram.
