Three intellectual actors in the murder case of bank manager Ilham Pradipta have been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Prosecutors convinced the court that the three defendants were proven guilty of taking part in the killing of Ilham Pradipta.

“Sentencing Defendant I, Candy alias Ken; Defendant II, Dwi Hartono; and Defendant III, Antonius Aditya, each to 15 years in prison,” the prosecutor stated during the trial at the East Jakarta District Court on Monday (22/6/2026).

Prosecutors established that the three defendants were legally and convincingly proven guilty of participating in the act of taking another person’s life, as stipulated in Article 458 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. Aggravating factors for Dwi Hartono and his co-defendants included the fact that their actions resulted in Ilham’s death and that they provided convoluted testimonies during the trial.

“The defendants gave evasive statements, and Defendants I, Candy alias Ken, and II, Dwi Hartono, have prior criminal records,” the prosecutor added. The prosecution also demanded restitution payments of IDR 1.05 billion from each defendant. Should they fail to pay within 30 days of a legally binding verdict, the restitution would be replaced with an additional three-year prison term.

According to the indictment, the defendants formed a team to kidnap victim Ilham Pradipta, with the operation monitored by witnesses M Nasir and Feri Hariyanto, who were members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. The team was promised a payment of IDR 60 million, with a bonus of IDR 5 billion if the fund transfer was successful. On 20 August 2025, the team waited for Ilham outside his office in Cempaka Putih and followed him to a supermarket in Ciracas, East Jakarta. At around 5.14 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, as Ilham returned to his car, Andre Tomatala and Erasmus Wowo pulled him into a white Avanza. Ilham was seated in the second row, flanked by Andre and Johannes, while Reviando sat in the back and Emanuel drove the vehicle out of the supermarket area.

As Ilham resisted, Erasmus Wawo struck his body three times before the group bound his hands, feet, mouth, and eyes with black duct tape they had prepared. Reviando Aquinas Handi and Johannes Ronald Sebenan held the victim to prevent further movement. Unable to locate a safe house, the kidnappers drove Ilham around Fatmawati in South Jakarta, then towards Cawang, entered a toll road, and exited in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Frustrated by the delay, Erasmus Wawo contacted Yohanes Joko Pamuntas, demanding that Ilham be moved immediately or be dumped on the roadside. The perpetrators then met in Kemayoran and transferred Ilham into a Fortuner vehicle, pulling his neck and placing him under the middle seat. His neck and chest were stepped on inside the car to subdue him, leaving him helpless. Yohanes then contacted Dwi to urgently find a location to interrogate Ilham.

After more than three hours without word from Candy, Dwi, or Antonius, and with the victim no longer moving, M Nasir decided to dispose of Ilham in a secluded area. He ordered David Setia Darmawan to drive the Toyota Fortuner off the toll road. Ilham was abandoned in a paddy field in Kampung Karang Sambung, Serang Baru, Bekasi Regency, West Java. On 21 August 2025, the victim was found lifeless, with his feet, hands, and eyes still bound with duct tape, lying face down.

A total of 16 defendants were tried in connection with Ilham Pradipta’s murder, including rogue military personnel and more than a dozen civilian perpetrators. The three military defendants have already been sentenced: Serka Mochamad Nasir received 13 years in prison, Kopda Feri Herianto received 7 years, and Serka Frengky Yaru received 1 year. The civilian defendants are being tried at the East Jakarta District Court on charges of premeditated murder. The murder was linked to an attempt to steal money from dormant accounts, with the intended sum reaching IDR 455 billion. Prosecutors stated that the defendants needed Ilham to facilitate the transfer of these funds, leading to his kidnapping and fatal assault.
