Three Luxury Motorcycles Seized in Customs Case Were Bought with State Funds, Then Reimbursed with Bribe Money
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized three luxury motorcycles linked to an importation case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance. The KPK revealed that the three motorcycles were purchased using ‘operational funds’ that were a collection of bribe money.
Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, said the three motorcycles were initially bought using special operational funds sourced from the state budget. However, the money used to purchase the motorcycles was later to be replaced by unofficial ‘operational funds’ derived from the collection of bribes from a number of forwarders, one of which was PT BlueRay Cargo.
‘From the investigation conducted by the investigative team, the purchase using special operational funds was only temporary. That means it would later be replaced by payments from, among others, PT BR,’ Taufik said during a press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (26/8/2026).
‘So it was like a revolving arrangement. The funds were used first, so that when there were questions from investigators at the beginning, before we looked deeper, it was true that these were special operational funds. But when we investigated further, it turned out that they would later be replaced with these funds, namely operational funds from bribes,’ he added.
For information, the three luxury motorcycles seized by the KPK from suspects in the alleged import bribery case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance consist of Triumph, Kawasaki and BMW brands. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the three motorcycles were seized from suspect Gatot Heroe.
‘They were seized from Mr GH and other parties within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise,’ he said.
Gatot Heroe is the Head of Supervision and Services of the Customs and Excise Directorate General for the Kediri Region. He is a new suspect in the alleged import bribery case.
The KPK has detained Gatot Heroe as of today. The KPK said Gatot received a total of Rp 3.25 billion from BlueRay Cargo boss John Field to facilitate customs processes for his company.
Before Gatot, the KPK had already named seven suspects. The bribe givers from PT BlueRay Cargo have been sentenced by judges. Their sentences are as follows:
John Field: 3 years in prison and a fine of Rp 300 million, with a subsidiary sentence of 100 days of confinement.
Deddy Kurniawan Sukolo: 2.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp 200 million, with a subsidiary sentence of 80 days of confinement.
Andri: 2.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp 200 million, with a subsidiary sentence of 80 days of confinement.
In addition, four customs officials are currently on trial in this case. They are:
Rizal, former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise for the period 2024 to January 2026;
Sisprian Subiaksono, Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate for Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise;
Orlando Hamonangan Sianipar, Head of the Intelligence Section at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise;
Budiman Bayu Prasojo, Head of the Customs Intelligence Section for Enforcement and Investigation at Customs and Excise.
