Three-Lane Contraflow Implemented on KM 48-66 Towards Cikampek
The toll road operator PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has implemented a contraflow adjustment from two lanes to three lanes on kilometres 48-66 towards Cikampek on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, starting at 12:21 WIB. Vice President of Corporate Secretary & Legal at PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated that today’s lane adjustment was made situationally based on the on-site traffic flow. This step was enforced to ease the congestion of the homecoming traffic heading towards West Java and East Java. “The expansion of the contraflow to three lanes is part of the anticipatory measures carried out jointly with the police to maintain the smooth flow of traffic towards the East Trans Java,” she said in a written statement on Thursday, 19 March 2026. JTT, along with the police and other stakeholders, continues to monitor the existing traffic conditions during the implementation of the traffic engineering. Road users are urged to be cautious, maintain safe distances between vehicles, obey signs, and follow the instructions of on-road officers. “This traffic engineering is carried out as an effort to reduce vehicle density and support the smooth flow of homecoming traffic to the eastern Trans Java region,” she added. Based on observations via Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras on the Travoy application owned by PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, vehicles in the kilometres 48-66 area on the normal lane appear to be moving slowly. Private vehicles dominate all lanes heading east. Meanwhile, on the opposite flow towards the west or Jakarta, officers have opened three road lanes for vehicles heading east. The volume of vehicles on this contraflow lane is not as high as on the normal lane. The speed of vehicles travelling on the contraflow lane also appears to be higher.
