Three killed in head-on collision

SALATIGA (JP): Three people were killed when a minivan they
were in collided head-on with a truck in the Central Javan
village of Wujil on Wednesday night, police said.

All three victims, including the driver of the ill-fated van,
were local residents.

The police said the accident took place when the van driver
was trying to overtake a bus and failed to avoid a crash with a
truck loaded with sand, coming from the opposite direction.

Local people, using crowbars, helped police remove the victims
from the wreck. (har/16)
