Three Kidnappers of State Bank Branch Manager Targeted IDR 455 Billion Dormant Account Before Abduction
Jakarta — Three main defendants in the kidnapping and murder of Mohammad Ilham Pradipta, branch head (Kacab) of a state-owned bank, allegedly targeted a dormant account containing billions of rupiah before abducting their victim.
During the reading of charges at the East Jakarta District Court on Monday (9 March 2026), the Public Prosecutor stated that the defendants had planned to transfer IDR 455 billion held in a dormant account.
The plan originated in June 2025, when the first defendant, Candy alias Ken, obtained information about a dormant account belonging to a customer at Bank BRI Cempaka Putih that contained hundreds of billions of rupiah.
However, to transfer the money from the dormant account to a receiving account, the defendants needed access from the bank branch manager.
Subsequently, Dwi informed the third defendant, Antonius Aditia Maharjuni, to become involved in the fund transfer plan.
The three defendants then held a meeting to discuss how to obtain access from the branch manager.
“Ken had attempted several times to invite various Bank Branch Managers to cooperate, but none of the Branch Managers were willing to do so,” the prosecutor stated.
To ensure the fund transfer succeeded, the defendants devised two scenarios. The first scenario involved using force or threats of violence against the victim, then releasing him after the fund transfer was completed.
“The second option involved using force or threats of violence. Once successful, the Bank BRI Cempaka Putih Branch Manager in Central Jakarta would be eliminated or killed to keep things ‘clean and clear,’” the prosecutor said.
The defendants then assembled a team to kidnap Ilham Pradipta and take him to a safe house in the Central Jakarta area.
In carrying out their plan, the team also involved military personnel to recruit civilian accomplices for the kidnapping.
On 20 August 2025, the perpetrators kidnapped Ilham in the Ciracas area of East Jakarta. The victim was forced to provide access to transfer the funds.
However, before reaching the safe house or planned location, the victim was beaten by the perpetrators until he died. His body was later dumped in Serang Baru, Bekasi Regency, on Thursday (21 August 2025).
