Three Jayawijaya Regency Officials Shot Dead by Armed Criminal Group

Three officials from the Jayawijaya Regency Government, Highland Papua, have been shot dead by an armed criminal group (KKB). The perpetrators are currently being hunted by the police.

“The three victims were subsequently evacuated to receive medical treatment at the Wamena Regional General Hospital,” said the Head of Operation Damai Cartenz-2026, Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani, as reported on Thursday (10/09/2026).

The first victim was a man identified by the initials AAM (35), who worked as a veterinarian at the Jayawijaya Agriculture Office. AAM passed away due to gunshot wounds to the back of the head and the left chest.

The second victim, AR (49), was a woman serving as the Head of the Livestock Division at the Jayawijaya Agriculture Office. She died at the scene after sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The third victim, WB (24), passed away after receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds. He was also an employee of the Jayawijaya Agriculture Office.

“We ensure that a thorough investigation is being conducted to uncover the chronology, identify the perpetrators, and ensure they are held accountable for their actions in accordance with applicable legal provisions,” Faizal asserted.

The shooting occurred in Muliama Village, Muliama District, on Wednesday (09/09/2026), at approximately 3:53 PM WIT. The three victims were shot while a delegation from the Jayawijaya Agriculture Office was inspecting the implementation of paddy field cultivation activities.
