We believe the future of coffee is not just about building more shops, but about how coffee can be present closer to consumers.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The three founders of Jago Coffee, an Indonesian-based mobile electric cart coffee retail startup, have been selected as Endeavor Entrepreneurs after passing the Endeavor International Selection Panel (ISP) in Montreal, Canada.

Endeavor is a global network that supports high-potential entrepreneurs in scaling their businesses and creating impact within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, with a community operating in over 45 countries.

“We believe the future of coffee is not just about building more shops, but about how coffee can be present closer to consumers,” said Jago Coffee Founder and CEO Yoshua Tanu in an official statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Yoshua, alongside Daniel Sidik and Christopher Oentotjo, participated in the final stage of the global selection on 17 September 2026, which brought company founders together with a panel of business leaders and entrepreneurs from various countries.

According to him, the use of electric carts allows the company to move points of sale to follow consumer needs, while the use of technology helps manage operations more efficiently.

Jago Coffee began operations in 2020 with three baristas and two electric cart prototypes, following the initial design of prototypes in 2019. The fleet is operated by baristas known as “Jagoan” and is deployed in residential areas, office districts, and transit points.

The business model is also supported by an application and technological platform used to manage deliveries, routes, and fleet demand data.

The company stated that it has raised more than 20 million US dollars (approximately Rp357.9 billion) and has reached a valuation of around 63.5 million US dollars (approximately Rp1.14 trillion) after securing a Series B funding round of 12.5 million US dollars (approximately Rp223.7 billion) in February 2026.

In addition to developing the electric cart fleet, the company has established the Jagoan Academy to equip partners with training through online classes and practical examinations. According to the company, this initial training process can be completed in less than 24 hours.

“What we are building is not just a mobile cafe fleet, but a new generation of micro-entrepreneurial culture, the Jagoans,” said Yoshua.

He added that the skill development of partners is expected to progress alongside the company’s growth, enabling them to enhance their business management capabilities.

During the Endeavor selection process, candidates are assessed based on founder quality, business potential, growth momentum, and the opportunity for the business to scale significantly.

Endeavor reported that more than 10,000 candidates were screened globally throughout 2025. Out of these, 117 candidates reached the ISP stage, and 88 were selected as Endeavor Entrepreneurs.

At the panel in Montreal, Yoshua, Daniel, and Christopher presented Jago Coffee to six panelists from the US, UK, Brazil, and Canada.

Endeavor Indonesia Managing Director Monika Rudijono stated that the panel’s assessment considers not only company growth figures but also the quality of the founding team, the business model, execution capability, and market opportunity.

“What convinced the panelists was not merely Jago Coffee’s growth figures, but a combination of three things: a sharp, visionary founding team that deeply understands their business; a strong business model with solid strategy and execution; and market momentum and opportunities that allow for much larger future growth,” said Monika.

Following their selection, the three founders will gain access to Endeavor’s network of mentors, entrepreneurs, and investors across various countries, including opportunities to exchange experiences with founders who have already undergone business expansion phases.

They will also have access to Endeavor Catalyst, a co-investment fund that invests alongside lead investors in company funding rounds.

This development in the coffee-based business occurs amidst Indonesia’s large national coffee production base. The Directorate General of Estate Crops of the Ministry of Agriculture noted that Indonesian coffee production in 202_5 reached 832,675 tonnes based on preliminary figures, exceeding the target of 813,346 tonnes. The national coffee area is recorded at over 1.27 million hectares.

Updated data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) on 21 September 2026 shows that Indonesian coffee exports from January to July 2026 reached 208,100 tonnes. The export value for the same period reached approximately 1 billion US dollars (approximately Rp18.03 trillion), with the highest monthly value during the January-July period recorded in July 2026 at 221.4 million US dollars (approximately Rp3.96 trillion).
