Three Injured in Kemayoran Fire, One Hospitalised at RSCM

Three people have been reported injured following a fire in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. The blaze struck a densely populated residential area and market on Monday night.

“Three people sustained injuries,” stated the Kemayoran Police Chief, Kompol Agung Ardiansyah, in Jakarta on Tuesday. The injured are currently receiving treatment at nearby hospitals; two individuals are being treated at RS Hermina Kemayoran, while one person has been transferred to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM).

The fire occurred in the crowded Pasar Jiung area, located on Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, Kebon Kosong, Central Jakarta. A total of 35 fire engines and 165 personnel were deployed to tackle the blaze. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit. The Head of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Bayu Meghantara, confirmed that the water supply at the location was sufficient for the operation.

Safrizal ZA, Director General of Regional Administration at the Ministry of Home Affairs, emphasised that officers are currently recording the victims of the Kemayoran fire. The government has indicated that opportunities for relocation are being considered. Furthermore, the Jakarta Provincial Government has ensured that victims of the fire in Kebon Kosong will receive necessary logistical assistance.
