Three Injured in Iran Amid Latest US Strikes
At least three people have been injured in the latest wave of United States strikes against targets inside Iran. The head of local emergency services, Mohammad Esmail Tavakoli, reported that the wounded were located in Tehran Province. Tavakoli stated the three individuals were hurt in a series of incidents linked to what he described as US attacks in the province. “Three people sustained injuries in incidents related to the brutal US strikes in Tehran Province,” Tavakoli said in a statement, as quoted by the Fars news agency. According to Fars, emergency teams have been deployed to the affected areas and have provided necessary medical assistance to the injured. The latest barrage of US strikes was largely focused on southern Iran. However, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said other locations near the capital Tehran were also hit, including areas in Karaj, Nazarabad, and Pishva. Damage was reported in several regions of Iran following the latest US assault, while emergency and public service agencies were placed on high alert. US Central Command, which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, previously announced strikes targeting “Iranian military reconnaissance capabilities, communication systems, and air defence sites across Iran”. CENTCOM claimed US forces “fired a number of precision munitions at Iranian targets that pose a threat to US forces and commercial vessels transiting regional waters”. CENTCOM called the strikes a “self-defence action” against “unprovoked and sustained Iranian aggression”. The wave of US strikes followed similar operations in recent days in response to the downing of an Apache helicopter by Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. In retaliation, Iran has launched waves of missile and drone attacks against US military bases in the Middle East, including in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.
