Three Indonesians arrested in RP
PHILIPPINES: Three Indonesians were arrested at the Philippines' premier international airport after illegal drugs were discovered in their luggage, a police official said on Monday.
Sr. Supt. Bernardo Bondoc said the three Indonesians were nabbed late on Sunday at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) shortly after arriving from Hong Kong.
"During a routine physical inspection of their luggage, customs officers discovered several packages of methamphetamine hydrochloride hidden in their clothes," he said.
Bondoc said the three suspects -- who had made several trips to Manila before the arrest -- have been charged with drug possession and smuggling.
"We are looking into the possibility that the three suspects might be a part of a drug smuggling syndicate and were being protected by politicians, rogue policemen or soldiers," he added. --DPA
