Three-Hour Meeting: Prabowo and Malaysian PM Discuss Geopolitics in West Asia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026). The meeting between the two friends proceeded in a warm and familiar atmosphere for approximately three hours, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM WIB. “The meeting lasted around three hours from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Subsequently, President Prabowo escorted Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in the same car to Halim Airport,” stated Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in his remarks on Friday (27/3/2026). Teddy said that the two leaders utilised the meeting to exchange views on global dynamics, particularly developments in the geopolitics of the West Asia region. In addition, Prabowo and Anwar discussed several strategic issues of mutual concern. “The meeting atmosphere was warm. In that friendly conversation, they exchanged Eid greetings while discussing the geopolitical dynamics in West Asia, as well as various strategic issues of mutual interest,” said Teddy. Upon arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma TNI AU Base, Anwar was farewelled with full honours, accompanied by an honour guard lined along the road leading to the aircraft steps. Accompanying Prabowo were several other ministers who attended to see off the Malaysian Prime Minister’s departure, namely Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. At around 7:20 PM WIB, the aircraft carrying Prime Minister Anwar and his limited entourage departed Indonesia, concluding his brief visit during this Eid moment.
