Indonesia has been left with three contenders in the men's
singles event at the US$15,000 Kratingdaeng tennis tournament as
it enters the quarterfinals stage at the Bung Karno tennis center
here on Thursday, according to Antara.
Suwandi, Prima Simpatiaji and Bonit Wiryawan won their
respective matches on Wednesday while Dede Suhendar Dinata, Febi
Widhiyanto and Nesa Arta crashed out.
National team ace Suwandi conceded only two games in his 6-1,
6-1 win over Igor Branissa of Slovakia, and will meet top seed
Wang Yeu-Tzuoo of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals.
Wang booked his quarterfinals' ticket at the expense of
Vietnamese Do Minh Quan with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Prima knocked out fourth seed Benjamin Cassaigne of France 6-
0, 6-3. His next opponent is seventh seed, American Paul
Fruttero, a 6-3, 7-5 winner over Dede Suhendar Dinata.
Indonesian veteran Bonit Wiryawan cruised through with a 6-3,
6-4 dispatch of qualifier Anuwant Dalodom of Thailand. He will
face Austrian Martin Slanar, who upset third seed and defending
champion Rohan Boppana of India 6-3, 6-1.
Last year's finalist Febi Widhiyanto was ejected in a 6-1, 6-1
thumping by Chen Ti of Chinese Taipei.
Ti's opponent will be Indonesia-born Sadik Kadir of Australia.
Kadir denied Nesa Arta's bid for a quarterfinal place, defeating
the Indonesian 6-3, 7-5.
