The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has stated that a land fire covering approximately three hectares in the Sentraland housing complex area, Gresik Regency, East Java, was successfully extinguished by a joint task force.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Centre, Abdul Muhari, said in Jakarta on Monday that the fire incident specifically affected vacant land within the housing estate located in Randegansari Village, Driyorejo District, on Saturday afternoon around 1:45 p.m. Western Indonesia Time.

‘Based on the latest conditions, the fire has been successfully extinguished and the situation at the location is under control,’ he said.

Abdul explained that upon receiving the report of the fire, personnel from the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Gresik Regency BPBD immediately moved quickly to the location to conduct an assessment and carry out firefighting operations together with the local Fire Department.

Based on preliminary data collection in the field, the BNPB confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries resulting from the three-hectare land fire.

Authorities, along with relevant officials, are still conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause that triggered the flames on the vacant housing land.

The incident occurred while an Emergency Alert Status for Drought and Forest and Land Fires is in effect in East Java Province, as stipulated in East Java Governor Decree Number 100.3.3.1/327/013/2026. The emergency preparedness status for forest and land fires and drought across the entire East Java region is in force for more than four months, from 26 May to 6 October 2026.
