Three Hajj Pilgrims from NTB Cancel Trip to Holy Land Due to Fractured Bone and TB
Three Hajj pilgrims from Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) have cancelled their trip to the Holy Land to perform the Hajj for 1447 Hijriah. The three pilgrims hail from Central Lombok, Bima Regency, and East Lombok.
The Head of Work Team IV at the Class I Mataram Health Quarantine Centre (BKK), Ferry Wardhana, stated that the three pilgrims who could not depart consist of two men and one woman.
“The woman has a fractured thigh, the second man suffers from tuberculosis or TB, and severe dementia,” said Ferry when confirmed by detikBali on Monday (11/5/2026).
Ferry explained that the three pilgrims who could not go to the Holy Land have been sent back to their respective homes for independent treatment. According to him, the conditions of these three pilgrims should have been anticipated during health checks in their respective regencies.
“This is something that may still need improvement going forward; for pilgrims from Sumbawa Island, they should be in the early kloter because they have a long journey. When someone is ill, there is more rest time upon arrival in Mataram,” explained Ferry.
Specifically for the pilgrim with severe dementia from Bima, Ferry said that they could potentially still depart if they had a longer rest period at the Lombok Embarkation Hajj Dormitory.
“But because the departure time was tight, there was no time for treatment,” Ferry emphasised.
NTB Hajj Pilgrims’ Health Said to Be Better
Although three pilgrims could not depart, Ferry assessed that the overall health condition of NTB Hajj pilgrims this year is better compared to the previous year.
According to him, strict vigilance from the Saudi Arabian side has increased the number of referrals before departure compared to 2025. However, the death toll among pilgrims at the embarkation point is zero.
“Yes, the number of referrals has increased, but the number of pilgrim deaths at the embarkation is nil. Last year there were two,” Ferry emphasised.
All Open Seats Have Been Replaced
The Head of the NTB Provincial Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Office, Lalu Muhammad Amin, confirmed that the total number of pilgrims from kloter 1 to kloter 15, along with staff, reaches 5,862 people. All are said to have arrived safely in the Holy Land.
“The three who failed to depart have all been replaced. So we have taken steps to fill the open seats that were confirmed not to depart, filled from each kloter,” he said.
Amin stated that the three pilgrims who failed to depart are confirmed not to meet the istithaah requirements set by Saudi Arabia. Therefore, they must postpone their departure this year.
“There are no other reasons; it’s only the istithaah. And we ensure that all pilgrims, alhamdulillah, are safe,” he said.
Amin also urged all NTB Hajj pilgrims to maintain their health and stamina until the performance of Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna).
“So Armuzna is very determining for the Hajj, which is the key point that the Hajj pilgrims have performed their worship. We urge all our departed Hajj pilgrims to truly maintain their health and obey and comply with the applicable rules there,” he concluded.
