Three former Democratic Party members join NasDem

There are those who leave and those who enter. Today, NasDem has new members joining the party.

Three former members of the Democratic Party, who were previously active in West Java politics, have joined the NasDem Party and declared their readiness to contest the 2029 Legislative Election.

“There are those who leave and those who enter. Today, NasDem has new members joining the party,” said the Chairman of the NasDem West Java Regional Leadership Council (DPW), M. Rahmat, at the NasDem National Defence Academy in Jakarta on Sunday.

The three politicians are Achdar Sudrajat, Wawan Setiawan, and Toto Purwanto. They are former members of the West Java legislature who were officially appointed as NasDem cadres by the Secretary General of the NasDem Central Executive Board, Hermawi Taslim.

According to Rahmat, the three new members stated that the NasDem Party would be the final destination in their political careers.

“Perhaps there are things that have not yet been realised, but now they will attempt to realise them within the NasDem Party,” said Rahmat.

He noted that this principle could ensure that politicians endorsed by the party do not feel burdened when performing their public duties.

“The interest in the NasDem Party has existed since 2019, but it has only been realised in 2024. Why? Because of the political ideology of ‘politics without dowry’ (mahar),” said Toto.

Toto believes that the concept of politics without dowry championed by the NasDem Party can support the party’s continued development.
