Three Former Democrat Cadres Join NasDem West Java, Citing Political Ideology

Three Democratic Party cadres have joined the NasDem Party. The three individuals plan to contest political elections in 2029.

The three were officially inaugurated and received their membership cards at the NasDem Party’s State Defence Academy in Pancoran, South Jakarta, on Sunday (6/9/2026). The inauguration was conducted directly by NasDem Party Secretary-General Hermawi Taslim.

“Today NasDem welcomes new guests. Some leave, some join. Well, today NasDem has new members joining, particularly in West Java,” said M. Rahmat, Chairman of NasDem’s West Java Regional Executive Board, after the inauguration of the three new cadres.

Rahmat noted that the three individuals had previously served as members of the West Java Provincial Regional Representatives Council. The three are Achdar Sudrajat, Wawan Setiawan, and Totok Paurwanto.

“And they are also ready — this is perhaps their final port of call. Because there may be things that have not yet been accomplished, but now they will try to realise them in the NasDem Party,” he said.

One of the cadres, Totok, said he moved to NasDem because of its political ideology of no political dowry. He believes NasDem will grow even larger in the future.

“It is due to the no-political-dowry ideology implemented in the NasDem Party. And of course, for us politicians, for us former provincial DPRD members — myself, Mr Wawan for two terms, Mr Achdar for two terms, and I myself for three terms — certainly this no-dowry ideology will enlarge the NasDem Party in 2029,” Totok explained.

“Please interpret it yourselves. Because as a Democratic Party cadre in 2024, that journey left some questions. It turns out that a political party which embraces a no-political-dowry ideology will grow larger, larger, and larger. Because it is unburdened — its politicians are not burdened by political dowries,” he added.
