Three former officials from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance will stand trial for alleged bribery and gratification on Friday, 3 July. The defendants are Rizal, former Director of Enforcement and Investigation; Sisprian Subiaksono, former Sub-Director of Intelligence at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation; and Orlando Hamonangan, former Head of Customs Intelligence Section I at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation. The trial will be held at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court. Central Jakarta District Court spokesperson Andi Saputra stated that the panel of judges has scheduled the reading of the indictment for 3 July 2025. The panel will be chaired by Brely Yuniar Dien Wardi Haskori, with Edward Agus and Nofalinda Arianti serving as member judges. Previously, public prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission charged the three defendants with accepting bribes and gratification amounting to more than IDR 71 billion, partly in foreign currency. The bribe givers in this case are John Field, head of Blueray Cargo Group; Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, Operational Manager of Customs Clearance at the port for Blueray Cargo Group; and Andri, Head of the Import Document Team at Blueray Cargo Group. John Field was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of IDR 300 million, with a subsidiary of 100 days in prison. Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo and Andri were each sentenced to two years and six months in prison and a fine of IDR 200 million, with a subsidiary of 80 days in prison. Based on facts revealed during the trial, prosecutors believe John Field and his subordinates were proven to have bribed several officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise to expedite the release of Blueray Cargo Group’s imported goods from customs supervision.
