Three former Customs and Excise officials face first trial in bribery case

Three former officials from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance faced their first trial on Friday at the Corruption Court in the Central Jakarta District Court, over alleged bribery and gratification linked to the import of counterfeit goods. The defendants are Rizal, former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs and Excise; Sisprian Subiaksono, former Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate; and Orlando Hamonangan, former Head of the Customs Intelligence Section I. According to the Central Jakarta District Court’s Case Tracking Information System, the session, scheduled for the reading of the indictments, was held in the Muhammad Hatta Ali courtroom and presided over by Chief Judge Brely Yuniar Dien. The KPK had named six suspects in the case, including three from the private sector: John Field, owner of Blueray Cargo; Andri, Head of the Import Documentation Team at Blueray Cargo; and Dedy Kurniawan, Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo. The anti-graft body later named Budiman Bayu Prasojo, Head of the Excise Intelligence Section, as an additional suspect on 26 February 2026. John Field, Andri, and Dedy Kurniawan had their first hearing in a separate case on 6 May 2026. In their indictments, the name Djaka Budi Utama was mentioned alongside Rizal, Sisprian, and Orlando in connection with a meeting with several cargo entrepreneurs at a Jakarta hotel in July 2025. During a hearing on 20 May 2026, KPK prosecutors stated that Djaka allegedly received bribes amounting to 213,600 Singapore dollars. In a subsequent trial session on 12 June 2026, John Field admitted to giving up to Rp21 billion to Djaka Budi Utama.
