Three flights from SIM Airport cancelled due to eruption impact

Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Three flights to and from Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport, Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar, have been cancelled following the temporary closure of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta on Sunday (6/9) due to the spread of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

“These flight cancellations were carried out to ensure the safety of both passengers and aircraft crews,” said the General Manager of Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport, Rahmat Adil Indrawan, in Blang Bintang on Sunday.

The cancelled flights to and from Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport include Batik Air ID6898 (BTJ-CGK), Garuda Indonesia GA140/141 (BTJ-CGK), and Garuda Indonesia GA146/147 (BTJ-CGK).

He explained that the operational team at Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport has coordinated with airlines and relevant agencies to ensure proper handling for passengers experiencing flight delays.

“We are also routinely providing updates regarding flight schedules affected by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau,” he said.

He urged members of the public travelling through Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport to monitor their flight schedules and coordinate with airlines to confirm their travel plans.
