The manhunt for the drug lords who triggered the attack and murder of three members of the Katingan Police Narcotics Unit in Katingan, Central Kalimantan, has yielded results. Three drug lords were arrested in a series of operations across several locations. The Director of Narcotics Crime at the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Department, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that the three drug lords were apprehended by a joint team from Sub-Directorate IV and the NIC Task Force, led by Senior Commissioner Handik Zusen and Senior Commissioner Kevin Leleury. “That is correct, they were arrested today at their hideout in East Kalimantan,” Brigadier General Eko Hadi said in a statement to journalists on Thursday (9/7/2027). Brigadier General Eko Hadi confirmed the three individuals were not only drug lords but also the perpetrators of the attack that killed three members of the Katingan Police Narcotics Unit. The three have been identified as Bio, Perie, and Ramlan alias Busu. “The three suspects will subsequently be flown to Jakarta for examination and to develop the investigation into the upper layers of their network,” Eko Hadi added. The incident began when 12 personnel from the Katingan Police Narcotics Unit, led by Unit Head AKP Affan Effendi, conducted an investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Central Katingan District. The team was split into two groups. Team 1 approached the target’s house while Team 2 stood by near a junior high school not far from the location. When officers arrived and identified themselves at the house, the team managed to secure the target. However, a man suddenly appeared wielding a machete and attacked the police but was subdued at the time. Shortly after, two more men armed with machetes emerged and attacked the Narcotics Unit Head, AKP Affan. Seeing this, Aiptu Sumaryanto fired a warning shot, but the perpetrators ignored it, forcing the officer to fire again. The suspects’ family also provoked residents, leading to resistance against the police. The Katingan Police had previously named three suspects in the attack case that killed three police officers during the anti-drug operation in Tumbang Kalemei Village. Investigators have detained five residents of the village, three of whom have been named as suspects.
