Three die of dengue fever

MANOKWARI, Irian Jaya: Three out of 25 residents hospitalized
in hospitals here for dengue fever have died, a spokesman for the
Manokwari health office, F.H. Widodo, said over the weekend.

"Dengue fever mostly affects children aged between 5-12
years," Widodo said as quoted by Antara.

He said that the disease is usually prevalent during the rainy
season, when stagnant water is everywhere.

The problem is worsened by people's lack of cleanliness and
poor hospital facilities, he said. (imn)
