Three die in two accidents

SAMPANG, Madura: Three people died and three others were
injured in two separate traffic accidents which took place here
on Wednesday, Antara reported.

In the first case, a car bearing a Jakarta license plate
driven by an exhausted Cukbin, 25, overturned, killing one of its
six passengers, Mrs. Nur binti Ahmad Abdullah.

The car was en route from Jakarta to Sumenep regency on Madura
Island.

The second accident occurred several hours later. An oil truck
belonging to PT Metapura Indah hit a motorcycle ridden by Yanto
and Eko Sutrisno, residents of Bangunrejo, Surabaya. Yanto died
instantly. Eko died later in the Sampang Hospital.

Witnesses said the motorbike was trying to overtake another
vehicle, but collided head-on with the truck coming from the
opposite direction. (swe)
