Three Demonstrations in Jakarta Today, Beware of Congestion Hotspots

JAKARTA - Three demonstrations will take place at three locations in central Jakarta from morning to afternoon on Friday (17/7/2026). The Public Relations Sub-Section Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the first demonstration will occur on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, at 10:00 WIB. The second protest will be held at 13:00 WIB by a group from the All-Indonesia Pesantren Student Executive Board (BEM) in front of the Saiful Mujani Research & Consulting (SMRC) office on Jalan Cik Ditiro, Menteng. A total of 855 combined police personnel have been mobilised to secure the series of protest actions in central Jakarta today. Erlyn advised the public to avoid the areas around the protest sites to anticipate traffic jams.
