Three Defendants in Pilkada Pangkep Corruption Case Found Guilty
Makassar - The Corruption Crimes Court Panel at the Class I A Makassar District Court has handed down guilty verdicts to three defendants in the alleged corruption case involving the regional head election (Pilkada) grant funds for Pangkajene Kepulauan (Pangkep) 2024. The three defendants are Ichlas (inactive chairman of the Pangkep KPU), Muarrif (inactive member), and Agusalim (Secretary of the Pangkep KPU). “Declaring the defendant Ichlas proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing the criminal act of corruption jointly and continuously,” stated an excerpt from the panel’s decision chaired by Johnicol Richard Frans Sine, quoted from the Case Search Information System (SIPP) website of the Makassar District Court on Tuesday. In case number 130/Pid.Sus-TPK/2025/PN Mks, Ichlas was sentenced to one year and six months in prison, lighter than the prosecutor’s demand of one year and nine months. He is also required to pay restitution to the state amounting to Rp28 million. If not paid within one month after the decision gains legal force, his assets may be seized or substituted with one month in prison. Meanwhile, defendant Muarrif in case number 131/Pid.Sus-TPK/2025/PN Mks was sentenced to one year and six months in prison, lighter than the prosecutor’s demand of two years. Muarrif was also fined Rp50 million or substituted with 50 days’ imprisonment, and required to pay restitution of Rp175.5 million. If not paid, assets may be seized and auctioned, or substituted with three months in prison. As for defendant Agusalim in case number 129/Pid.Sus-TPK/2025/PN Mks, he was sentenced to one year and three months in prison plus a fine of Rp50 million or substituted with 50 days’ imprisonment. The panel also ruled that Rp32 million already returned be confiscated for the state and counted as restitution of state financial losses. The panel deducted the periods of arrest and detention already served by the defendants from their sentences and ordered them to remain in custody. Previously, the three were named suspects by the Pangkep District Prosecutor’s Office on 1 December 2025 in connection with alleged gratification practices in four packages of goods and services procurement funded by the 2024 Pilkada Pangkep grant budget. Based on the audit results of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), the defendants’ actions are suspected to have caused state financial losses of Rp554.4 million.
