Three de'Clan Employees Questioned in PLN, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel Corruption Cases
Police conducted a search at the de’Clan Signature café in the Cipete area of South Jakarta in connection with three corruption cases involving state electricity company PLN, the armed forces’ insurer ASABRI, and steelmaker Krakatau Steel. Three café employees were questioned as witnesses. “There are three. Employees who were at the location,” said the Head of the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Task Force, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, at the scene on Wednesday (8/7/2026). During the search, police discovered cash in rupiah, Singapore dollars, and US dollars totalling approximately IDR 60 billion. “For the search at The Club location, we have seized several documents and electronic devices, including mobile phones,” he stated. The enormous sum of money was stored in a large safe on the second floor of the café. “The money we seized includes SGD 3,130,000 in SGD 100 notes, USD 889,965, and IDR 259,159,000 in cash. When converted, this amounts to nearly IDR 60 billion. This was at the de’Clan location,” he said. Police also seized 16 foreign currencies from a money changer in Cipete, South Jakarta, totalling IDR 7.2 billion. “At the money changer, there were 71 items of evidence, including 16 foreign currencies, totalling around IDR 7.2 billion,” he explained. Inspector General Totok stated that the investigation is being handled jointly with the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate. The cases relate to alleged corruption in coal procurement that triggered blackouts at PLN, a case at ASABRI spanning 2020 to 2025, and alleged corruption in the debt settlement process from PT CBS to PT KNI, a subsidiary of the state-owned enterprise Krakatau Steel. The Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, emphasised that the investigation into these corruption allegations has the attention of President Prabowo Subianto. “This is part of the investigation process to search for and collect evidence,” Budi Hermanto said following the search at Café de’Clan in Cipete, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/7).
