Three dead, one injured in Pulogadung shophouse fire

Three people died and one was injured in a fire that engulfed a shophouse and business premises on Jalan Palad RT 02/RW 03, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, in the early hours of Sunday. The three deceased victims were identified as ES (67), LF (40), and RM (10). They were buried at the Rawa Teratai public cemetery. The fire occurred on Sunday (12/7) at 3:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, following a report from a resident who came to the fire station. The East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service immediately dispatched an initial unit, arriving at the scene at 3:04 a.m. To localise the rapid spread of the flames, a total of 14 fire engines with 60 personnel were deployed to the site. The fire is suspected to have originated from a power socket and quickly spread to the houses and stalls on either side, likely due to an electrical short circuit. The East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service urged all members of the public to increase their vigilance against potential fire hazards. Residents are advised to conduct regular checks on the condition of their electrical installations and the load on their power sockets to ensure collective safety.
