Three dead in South Korea flyover collapse
Seoul (ANTARA) – Yonhap reported on Tuesday that three people died and three others were injured in a South Korean flyover collapse. Part of the upper deck structure collapsed at the demolition site in Seoul around 2:33 pm local time (12:33 pm WIB). Two men in their 50s and 60s, suspected demolition workers, were killed by falling debris. Among four injured, a 50-year-old man who was rescued after being trapped under a vehicle was rushed to hospital in cardiac arrest and later pronounced dead. Three other men in their 30s, 40s, and 50s suffered injuries to their back, head, and ribs. Of the 12 people present at the scene during the accident, six others were evacuated earlier. The accident occurred during a thorough safety inspection of a 2.9-centimetre gap caused by ground subsidence during concrete slab cutting operations earlier that morning. The demolition of the 335-metre-long and 14.9-metre-wide flyover, built in 1966, began last August and is scheduled for completion in early June this year.
